Thankfulness: Family Activity

Family Activity

The prophet Samuel set up a monument to remind the people of Israel of the things the Lord has done to help them.  He named it Ebenezer. (1 Samuel 7: 12)

Gather several smooth rocks.  Wash them and let them dry.  Write something God has done for you on each rock with permanent marker.  Pile the rocks in your garden or in a basket in your home as a reminder to stop and thank God for all He has done.

Family Service Project

In November of every year our church makes Thanksgiving meals for people in need.  This is one of the ways we show others the love of Jesus.  We are thankful for the many blessings that we have and we want to share with others.  This month take your family to the grocery store and collect non-perishable food items.  Then contact either the Refuge of Hope at 330-456-3213 or the Common Goods Ministry at First Christian Church at 330-456-2600.  Make the trip as a family to make your donation to one of these ministries.  In addition to the food you deliver, make thank you cards for the workers expressing how thankful you are for the work that they do.  This project can be done at ANY time of the year.  It doesn’t have to be only around Thanksgiving!
