Student Life Mission Camp

Student Life Mission Camp

Student Life Mission Camp is an extension of Student Life, a teen center ministry that ministers to teens in camps and conferences across the nation. This July, we will be participating in the mission camp located in Cedarville, Oh. Chad Norris will be the camp speaker and worship will be lead by Matt Maher.

If you would like more information on Student Life, please visit their web site www.studentlife.com

We will be serving the elderly and the disabled at the Grand Court of Springfield Independent Living Center. This is the same place we were blessed to be able to serve in 2009 and the residents have asked to have our group back again this year. We are very happy to be able to serve these very special residents in 2010.

During our time at Student Life Mission Camp we will be serving in many ways.

  • Manual Labor
    • At the work site there will be many projects to be completed such as work on resident’s condos, painting and clean up.
  • Personal Attention
    • Our students will be encouraged to spend one on one time with the residents playing games, singing and getting to know one another.
  • Serving Food
  • Prayer Gatherings

It is our goal to reach this distinct community with the message of God’s love through our acts of service.

Itinerary

If you decide to attend Student Life Mission camp here is what our week typically looks like:

Cost

The cost of Student Life Mission Camp is $329.00. This includes your rooming, food, materials and supplies for that week. A $60.00 non-refundable deposit is required to service your space. You can register and pay at the FCC Sign-Up window on Sundays or at the FCC Welcome Center during the week.

Car-Wash-a-Thon

Included in this packet is a form for our Car-Wash-a-Thon which we will have here at FCC from 10 am to 2 pm  June 19. Students can earn money from the Car-Wash-a-Thon in two ways:

Pledges – Students can have people pledge money per each car that student washes.

For example: If Mr. Smith pledges $5.00 per car washed and your student helps wash 20 cars that adds up to $100.00 toward your student’s camp cost. All money pledged for your student goes toward your student’s camp costs only.

Money Earned During Car Wash – The amount of money earned by the group from the actual car wash will be split among those students who worked the car wash. Each student will get an equal portion of the money earned those days.

MissionDonations

Also included in this packet is a letter along with remittance slips that give you the option to copy and send to others requesting a donation toward your Student Life Mission Camp trip. All donations are tax deductible.

We would be delighted to answer any other questions you may have. For more information please contact Jenn McManus in the Family Ministry Department at 330-456-2600 ext. 2180 or email atjmcmanus@firstchristian.info.
We look forward to partnering with your student for a week of sharing Christ’s love in service to the elderly and disabled this summer!
