I have always been fascinated by the story of Pinocchio. Pinocchio is the fairy-tale boy whose nose grows longer with each lie he tells. Living an honest life at times can be a difficult adventure for us too. While our noses do not grow longer with each lie like Pinocchio we do suffer consequences with each of our lies.
Teaching your children honesty is a life long commitment. It is much more difficult than teaching your child a task like tying their shoes. It is at times easier for a child to lie than to tell the truth even though they know it is wrong because they think they can avoid confrontation.
