Kids Playland

We are pleased to offer our community a safe, fun place for children to play. The Playland at First Christian Church is one of the largest in the area. It has four levels with a super-fast slide and many tubes and stairs providing children loads of fun and excitement. There is also an area designated specifically for toddlers to play.

Our goal is provide a safe environment for your child to learn about God. This is why we provide children’s ministry for infants through 5th grade. We know God has special plan for your child’s life, and we want to equip them to discover what that is. Here is what you can expect when you arrive:
- First, you will be greeted by our check in team members. If you are a first time guest, they will provide you with a yellow form to fill out. Please fill this out as completely as possible. This will ensure that we have all the emergency contact info we need. Plus it will us get to know your family better.
- Second, the check in team member will print three labels for your child. These labels provide vital information to our teachers about your child. They will also have a pager number in case we need to find you. (During service, your number will come across the screen if you are needed in your child’s room.) The 1st label you will stick on your child. (Ages newborn to Kindergarten, please stick on back. First through fifth grade can go on the front.) The 2nd label you will hand to the teacher when you check your child in. The 3rd label you will keep with you. You need this one in order to pick your child up. This ensures the safety of your child.
- Third, you will take your child to their classroom. Infants through Kindergarteners as well as first through fifth graders are checked in on the lower level. You will be greeted at the classroom by one of our team members who will take the child’s 2nd label and welcome your child to class. All of our younger classes have a two-way mirror. This way you can watch your child without them knowing.
Mission
First Christian Church Children’s Ministry seeks to lead children of all ages (birth through 5th grade) to Christ in a fun, developmentally appropriate and relevant way. We strive to equip children to live out Biblical virtues in their lives and assist parents in the process of raising their children into spiritual champions.
Objectives
Children (birth - 3 years old) will understand and live out the following statements:
- I can love God and God loves me.
- I can love others.
- I can trust God’s Word.
Children (preschool - 5th grade) will understand and live out the following statements:
- I can love God with all I've got, because He first loved me.
- I can love others, because Jesus died for everyone.
- I can trust God's Word for everything no matter what comes my way.
Children's Ministry Values
We value children.
We must look at everything we do through the eyes of a child in order to fully accomplish our mission.
We value families
We want to provide opportunities and experiences where families can be together. We want to provide tools and resources that equip families.
We value creativity in teaching.
We must use up-to-date methods to reach the kids of today. We must help our children apply biblical truths to their everyday experiences. They need to know God’s Word is relevant to them.
We value relationships.
We want relationships to be a focus of what happens in our ministry. We desire for our volunteers to build relationships with the kids and their parents. We also want to provide avenues for the children to build relationships with other kids in the church and their community.
We value safety.
Our goal is to have a safe place where kids want to be! We want their time at church to be the best hour of their week!
We value kids beyond our walls.
We want to challenge our kids to think beyond themselves. We will provide opportunities for kids beyond our walls to serve others. We want to challenge our kids to interact with and support kids within their own neighborhood and beyond!
